In a letter addressed to the government in Skopje, 12 Bulgarian associations in North Macedonia state they want to be included in the working group on constitutional changes. They say they welcome the establishment of a working group as a step towards resolving the issue of including Bulgarians in the preamble of North Macedonia’s constitution.

“That would guarantee the rights and the freedoms of the representatives of Bulgarians in the country, according to the constitution. The Bulgarian people have been the most constructive element in making the centuries-old dream of an independent, democratic and sovereign Republic of Macedonia come true, a country for all citizens living in it whatever their ethnicity, religion, political, social or any other kind of affiliation,” the letter reads. The Bulgarians say they are ready to nominate their representatives, citizens of North Macedonia, to the commission.
