An Australian shipwrecks near Primorsko and falls in love with Bulgaria

60-year-old Australian traveler Alexander James McKinnon was shipwrecked off the coast of Bulgaria's coastal town Primorsko. He departed from the Romanian city of Sulina through the Danube Delta and the Black Sea with his final destination being Venice.

On the Bulgarian Black Sea coast, however, he was overtaken by a storm, his boat capsized, and his rudder broke. Local people immediately come to his aid. They sheltered him and helped him repair his small 3-meter boat to continue his adventure.

"Bulgarians are so friendly, so warm. The food is great - skewers and kebabs. There is such a beautiful seascape on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast, the beaches are fantastic, the birds, the dolphins. I am amazed at the good confluence of the situation after my bad luck with the weather and the probability of drowning", McKinnon shared his impressions of Bulgaria to Ivaylo Peev from BNR Burgas.
