Magistrates organize protest against assassination attempt against prosecutor general

“Thank God I switched cars at the last minute! Thank God nobody got killed! I am worried about the children, they got really scared,” said Prosecutor General Ivan Geshev for the website epicenter.bg after yesterday’s roadside explosion.  He was travelling with his wife and children from Samokov bound for Sofia on 1 May when at midday, a bomb went off as his motorcade was passing.

Prosecutor’s office spokesperson Siika Mileva stated that Ivan Geshev has not and will not make any official statement on the matter.

Caretaker Prime Minister Galab Donev has called a meeting at 10 AM, of Interior Ministry heads and representatives of the special services and the prosecutor’s office to discuss what actions the institutions will take.

At 11 AM today prosecutors and examining magistrates will come out in front of the courthouses in the country. The protest aims to demonstrate unity against all attempts at intimidation, the organizers of the protest said.
