As of today, GERB/SDS is beginning negotiations with other parties because of the serious reservations it has with regard to the programme of We Continue the Change/Democratic Bulgaria, said GERB leader Boyko Borissov. Yesterday, We Continue the Change/Democratic Bulgaria nominated a prospective minority government, and declared they would seek support from all parties represented in parliament.
GERB/SDS will also nominate a minority government, Boyko Borissov said and added he hoped it would be supported by the other parliamentary groups. However, he stated that the negotiations with We Continue the Change/Democratic Bulgaria were not over, as there were “things we have in common connected with the reform in the judiciary, energy, defence and foreign policy”.
On his part, Nikolay Denkov, We Continue the Change/Democratic Bulgaria’s nomination for prime minister said, in an interview with Nova TV, that his coalition would not negotiate with GERB/SDS on the names in the prospective cabinet. “We do not accept ultimatums, we try to do what is best so as to unravel this puzzle and form a working government,” he said.
The Movement for Rights and Freedoms is ready to respond to any invitation for talks on the formation of a government, said the party’s chairman Mustafa Karadayi.
The Bulgarian Socialist Party also says it is ready to take part in such negotiations but will not remove any of its “red lines” about “gender ideology”, the war in Ukraine and social policy, said its leader Korneliya Ninova.
"There is Such a People" will accept an invitation for talks, although the party doubts that a cabinet can be formed, said MP Stanislav Balabanov.
It transpired that Vazrazhdane party would also be involved in the talks, although it will only support a government on its own mandate.
