Ukraine repelled 50 Russian attacks overnight

Russia continues to focus its main efforts on offensive operations in the areas of Bakhmut, Avdeyevka and Marinka, the Ukrainian army's General Staff said. They said that nearly 50 Russian attacks had been repelled along the main sectors of the front line in eastern and southern Ukraine, and reported the liquidation of 560 Russian attackers, 7 tanks, 14 armoured vehicles and 14 artillery systems. For its part, Russia announced the elimination of a Ukrainian reconnaissance group in the Donetsk region, as well as attacks by the Ukrainian army in the same area.

Rosenergoatom is introducing special safety measures at the Russian-controlled Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant ahead of May 9, an adviser to the concern's director general, Renat Karchaa, told TASS news agency. Record high water levels could overwhelm a large dam in southern Ukraine and damage parts of the Zaporizhzhya NPP, Reuters reported.

Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmygal has thanked Britain's King Charles III for his solidarity. Shmigal and Ukraine's first lady Olena Zelenska met with Charles on May 5. Charles has expressed his "unwavering support" for Ukraine.
