Famous British photographers Vanessa Winship and George Georgiou will present their works for the first time in Sofia. The exhibition is entitled "The Long Road" and was created specifically for the Synthesis Gallery space. The authors will be personally present at the opening, which will take place on May 12.
The photographs included in the exhibition trace more than 30 years of the journey that Vanessa Winship and George Georgiou have taken together, starting from their student years in London, through documentary series shot in Great Britain, Italy and India, their work in Kosovo, Albania and Serbia during the Kosovo war. Their works from various countries in Eastern Europe and the Balkans, including Bulgaria, as well as their latest projects in the USA, are also included.
These days, the two photographers split their time between the English town of Folkestone and the Bulgarian village of Mandritsa.
Vanessa Winship and George Georgiou are among the renowned names on the international photography scene. They are members of the photography agencies VU' and Panos/Prospekt and their works have been shown in institutions such as MoMA in New York and the Barbican Centre in London. Their exhibition in Sofia is part of the program of the European Night of Museums on May 13.
