One of the most successful artists on the Bulgarian music scene - Poli Genova, who in 2016 won for Bulgaria the prestigious fourth place at the Eurovision song contest with "If Love Was a Crime", has now released a new song - "Don't do like that".
As Poli toured Europe, singing to crowds of thousands in Barcelona, Warsaw and Madrid, she created a song inspired by the nostalgia of MTV's golden age.
"Don't do like that" is in Bulgarian and follows the line of the disco sound that is characteristic of Polly in her songs in recent years. Its authors are Shterion Pilidov and Elena Sirakova. The video for the single was directed by Vito Bonev. His abstract and creative ideas perfectly recreate the spirit of the 90s. The entire clip was shot on videotape, achieving this incredibly authentic and nostalgic effect.
The single will be part of Poli Genova's new album, with which she is expected to delight her audience at the end of the year.
About the excitement surrounding the creation of the song, Poli shares: "This fresh and different project, inspired by the music of the late 80s and 90s, immerses us in the energy that makes us dance to the rhythm of disco! Thanks to the whole team , with whom we worked with great desire, put all our inspiration and created a small musical time machine. The song and the video complement each other perfectly and are a gift to everyone who has been waiting for a song in Bulgarian from me for a long time."
A few days ago, Poli Genova was a special guest at an event organized by the “Ivan Stancioff" Bulgarian School in London on the occasion of its 35th birthday, where she sang in front of students and guests in one of the halls of St. Peter's Church on Notting Hill. Among the guests were Prince Boris, Price of Tarnovo, heir to the Bulgarian monarchical tradition, and Prince Cyril.
BBC Radio broadcast a special Eurovision episode featuring Poli as a guest on British superstar Sam Ryder and his 'Music Life' podcast, which is listened to by more than 98 million people worldwide.
