In springtime, Golden Sands nature park becomes a favourite spot for the people living in Varna, but also for the guests coming to the seaside city.
It is located 17 kms. to the Northeast of Varna, running parallel to the seashore and hugging the resort, also called Golden Sands, on all sides. The park covers an area of 13.2 sq. kms., and is one of 11 nature parks in the country. It has been designated a protected area for natural habitats and wildlife, part of the Natura 2000 network. As of last year, under a European project, the population of the white waterlily (Nymphaea alba) has been restored.
