“I have not discussed names with anybody, it is not my job. Bulgaria is a sovereign country,” said US ambassador to Bulgaria Kenneth Merten in Burgas, and added that decisions such as this must be made by the citizens of Bulgaria and not by foreigners.
His words come as a comment on the political scandal with the leaked audio recording of a meeting of the We Continue the Change National Council on 21 May.
