Evgeni Veselinov receives annual award of Bulgarian Memory Foundation

The editor-in-chief of the "BulgariCА" edition in the USA, Evgeni Veselinov, has received the annual award of Bulgarian Memory Foundation. The award was presented to him personally by the chairman of the foundation, Milen Vrabevski, during a special ceremony in Sofia.

Since 2000, Veselinov has lived in the USA, where he has been working as a professional freelance photographer. In 2003, in Los Angeles he created "Obzor", the first Bulgarian print edition on the West Coast of the US. The media went online in 2009 as the BulgariCA website. The name is shortened from "Bulgarians in California" (BULGARICA - BULGARians In CAlifornia). 

In 2008, Evgeni Veselinov founded the first Bulgarian school on the West Coast - Ivan Vazov school. The "journalist", as he is called, organizes and supports dozens of initiatives and events in Los Angeles and helps Bulgarians in the USA.

"The excitement is great. This is my first award. It's a big day for me, a big holiday. I have an anniversary this year - I turn 60 years old, 20 years since the creation of the Bulgarian media and 15 years since the creation of the Bulgarian school on the West Coast in the USA. I am very happy and proud that this foundation is giving me the award, because my direction coincides with what Dr. Milen Vrabevski is doing," Veselinov said at the ceremony.
