According to Peter Chumakov from Kherson, chairman of the Bulgarian Khan Kubrat Association, politicians had failed to support ethnic Bulgarians in Ukraine.

"For two days we had no contact with our relatives, acquaintances - Peter Chomakov told BNR. - The water has carried away their houses. They were left without homes, without cars, without anything. They had found boats. Nobody tried to evacuate them. We are talking about the left bank, the occupied territory. To this day, people are on the roofs - children, elderly, with nothing to eat, no water. They (Russians - ed.) are not giving a corridor to international organisations. Piles of animal and human bodies, ruined houses - all this is drifting towards the Black Sea. 70% of the area submerged under water is in the occupied territory". That's how Peter Chumakov, chairman of the Khan Kubrat Association, described the situation after the explosion of the dam in Nova Kakhovka.
He pointed out that 31 Bulgarian villages in Zaporizhzhya region or over 50,000 Taurian Bulgarians are in the occupied territories. He said Bulgarian politicians had failed to support ethnic Bulgarians in Ukraine.
