"Democratic Bulgaria" has not decided to abolish the post of "Attorney General"

"Democratic Bulgaria", which is part of the ruling coalition, no longer supports the idea of abolishing the post of "chief prosecutor", although the issue was discussed with the parliamentary group of MRF, said its co-chairman Hristo Ivanov on the sidelines of parliament.
In his words, the idea contradicts a 2003 constitutional article.
"Bearing this in mind, what we are talking about is disempowering this figure - removing the instruments of power associated with it, not so much its removal per se," the lawmaker explained. He said there should be clarity about who is in charge of the prosecutor's office, but in the current political situation the easiest way to do that is to agree that there should be no such post.
