The ambassador of the Republic of North Macedonia to Bulgaria Agneza Rusi-Popovska has been summoned to the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry. Bulgaria has expressed concern over the attack against Bekir Kadrieski on 13 June, 2023, who is chairman of the association of Bulgarians in Struga. The Bulgarian side is demanding that the authorities in North Macedonia take swift action for an effective investigation and law enforcement in connection with the incident, and is expecting concrete results in connection with all other incidents involving Bulgarians and their associations in North Macedonia.

Kadrieski, who was attacked and beaten in Struga, wants to come to Bulgaria to continue his medical treatment, as he says he has doubts he can receive adequate medical assistance in North Macedonia.
