A Ministry of Agriculture and Food statement reads that all possible action is being taken to prevent flooding, including 24-hour surveillance of the facilities. Water is being pumped out of the nearby dams Klisuritsa and Smirnenski. Some areas of Sofia were also flooded – in the residential districts Suhodol, Simeonovo and Dragalevsti firefighters have been pumping water out of the flooded homes. Sofia villages of Zharava, Yana and the town of Buhovo, part of Sofia's Kremikovtzi district are also badly affected by the heavy rainfall.
