Bandoneonist Stoyan Karaivanov named Musician of the Year 2022 by BNR listeners

Bandoneonist Stoyan Karaivanov has won the Musician of the Year 2022 prize after collecting the most listener votes in the poll of the Allegro Vivace radio programme on the Horizon program of the Bulgarian National Radio.

The 25-year-old musician is the youngest winner in the 32-year-long history of the award. This year he received the special award "Olga Kamburova" in support of young talent and played for the first time with the Symphony Orchestra of the BNR. 



"What could I compare music to? Only with love! Music is love and love is music", said Stoyan Karaivanov during the award ceremony. On the stage of the National Academy of Music, he proposed marriage to his beloved Asya. 


The listeners of the Bulgarian National Radio determined prize winners in other categories as well.

The Pioneer Youth Philharmonic became Ensemble of the Year 2022 as the distinction was received by its conductor Lyubomir Denev-Jr. who thanked the young musicians from Pioneer Philharmonic, saying: "We love performing together! This award will motivate us to move forward!"

 Horn player Viktor Teodosiev was named Young Musician of the Year.

The interactive concert-performance "Seasons in Music and Verse" was awarded for Musical Project of the Year.

Young pianist Nadezhda Tsanova received an award for Busy creative activity.

 The distinction for Music Manager of the Year went to the director of the Sliven Symphony Orchestra  Kremena Oxenkrug.

The distinction for Music Teacher of the Year went to Svetlana Stundzheva, head of the Sweet Popcorn Children's Vocal Group.
