PM urges employers and unions to be realistic on 2023 budget

When discussing the budget, there are emotions that often blur the numbers and shift the focus away from the search for the most adequate solutions, Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov told the National Council for Tripartite Cooperation, which gathered to discuss Budget 2023.

He urged the council to focus on what is achievable over the next few months, bearing in mind that with Budget 2024 there will be time to set longer-term policies.

Employers support the draft budget in general, but have reservations about the revenue targets, the exaggerated pro-inflationary costs of public insurance and the requirement to pay wages only by bank transfer. They look forward to decentralisation of public finances, the calculation of the landfill tax according to its size and incentives for investment in the green transition.
