No request for training of Ukrainian combat medics at the military hospital in Sofia has been received yet, Minister of Defence Todor Tagarev stated in a written answer to a question by BSP MP Ivan Petkov.
It is planned to train 15 representatives of the armed forces of Ukraine as combat medics in four modules for each calendar year, Tagarev says. He adds that no Bulgarian military personnel have been sent or are planned to be sent to Ukraine. As of December 2022, there is a parliamentary decision for the country to take part in the EU's assistance mission to Ukraine. 55 military personnel may take part in the mission, but they will be based in Poland or in Germany.
