Stephan Komandarev's Bulgarian-German crime story "Blaga's Lessons" won the Crystal Globe Grand Prix at the 57th Karlovy Vary Film Festival, one of the most important cultural events in Europe. The film tells the story of a recently widowed elderly woman who falls victim to telephone scammers. Bulgarian Eli Skorcheva also won the Best Actress award.

"We did not expect such success, director Stephan Komandarev told the BTA news agency after the award ceremony.

"The premiere a couple of days ago was great, there were incredible reactions of the audience, applause for Eli Skorcheva, the reviews published afterwards were very strong," Komandarev said, adding that he is already working on a new project to be shot in March and April 2024 under the title "Made in the EU".
