Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov denied there was any discrepancy between himself and Defence Minister Todor Tagarev regarding the military aid for Ukraine.
His comment comes in response to a position, expressed by vice President Iliana Iotova that the two had given conflicting information regarding the commitments assumed during the visit by President Volodymyr Zelensky to this country.
“We have the munitions, which has an expiration date in 2-3 years’ time, and if we do not deliver them now, later we shall have to pay to have them destroyed,” Prime Minister Denkov said in an interview with Nova TV, and added that Bulgaria has a sufficient amount of munition to provide for its own combat readiness.
“We are helping Ukraine because it is much better for this front to be kept as far away from our borders as possible, and that is the national interest of Bulgaria,” Nikolay Denkov said further.
As to the referendum on keeping the Bulgarian Lev as the “official” currency in Bulgaria until 2043, submitted by Vazrazhdane and rejected by parliament, the prime minister described this decision by the Bulgarian National Assembly as “legally correct”.
