The military activities in Ukraine have the potential of spreading outside the territory of the country, reads a report by the State Agency for National Security (SANS), posted on the website of the Council of Ministers. The use of mass destruction weapons is not to be ruled out, the report reads further.
“The Russian invasion is significantly eroding the security system in Europe, escalating rivalry among the geopolitical factors and creating global energy, economy and food insecurity vectors,” the report notes. In this contest, the war in Ukraine and the increasing potential for instability in the Western Balkans has had the most significant effect on our national security last year.
“The Black Sea/Caucasus region is emerging as a zone of primary importance because of Russia’s aggression in Ukraine which has led to a concentration of NATO capabilities for defending the member countries and the containment of Russia,” the SANS reads further.
