Members of the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria (CITUB) protested in front of the official entrance of the parliament. The protest is held under the motto "For Fair Incomes in Budget 2023". The protesters want to meet with the MPs to present their demands for wage increase and better working conditions. The protest takes place against the backdrop of parliamentary debates on the 2023 state budget. Workers employed at institutions which are expected to collect the money in the budget such as the National Social Security Institute, the National Revenue Agency and the National Toll Administration are participating at the rally. Workers from other public sectors, including the Bulgarian National Radio, were also among the protesters.
The other large trade union, the Confederation of Labor Podkrepa, has set up a "Reception for MPs" to invite them to dialogue on the wages. The protest will continue in the coming days.
