The incident at the Urals Electrochemical Combine in Novouralsk in Russia is local, it took place far from the territory of Bulgaria, and no risk to Bulgaria has been registered, the Bulgarian Ministry of Environment and Water says. According to the Russian news agency RIA Novosti, after the accident the radiation levels in the facility and in the town’s environs are normal.  Bulgaria’s national automated system for permanent control of the radiation gamma background has not registered any deviations on the territory of Bulgaria so far. The Executive Environment Agency has 26 automated monitoring stations located across the entire territory of the country. The automated system is part of the European radiological data exchange platform, where data is submitted at hourly intervals. Due to the war waged by Russia on the territory of Ukraine, Executive Environment Agency experts are monitoring all possible gamma-radiation radionuclides.
