Bulgaria's Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov's participation in the EU-Latin American summit in Brussels continues. He has spoken with Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte and Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer.

It is expected that in September it will be clear what mandate for Schengen the caretaker government of the resigned Rutte will have.

We need to do our homework, the laws for the anti-mafia commission should be passed, the work on the constitutional changes should begin. The Netherlands is mostly interested in fighting corruption. We need to strengthen the work on the borders and in the autumn invite experts from the EU to see on the ground what we are doing, said the prime minister.

Denkov believes that if Bulgaria responds to the recommendations of the European Commission's report on the rule of law, there will be very strong arguments for admission to Schengen.
