For the first time in this country protected area of 29 decares in South Sakar region, bought through a donation campaign of the Bulgarian Society for the Protection of Birds, is being established. On the territory, care will be taken for the protection of three endangered species - the eastern imperial eagle, the saker falcon and the European ground squirrel.

According to Milena Ivanova from the non-governmental organization, these representatives of the fauna have almost disappeared, but their number can be increased by nature-friendly management of the land they inhabit.

The Bulgarian Society for the Protection of Birds is raising more funds through donations in order to buy 100 decares of land in Sakar Mountain. "This is one of the ways to protect biodiversity in Europe," the organization says.
