Supporting Ukraine is a civilisational choice, says foreign minister Gabriel

As long as there is dialogue, reason and a decision-making mechanism, the government will endure, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mariya Gabriel told BNR. She stressed that the decision to support Ukraine is a civilisational choice and as a NATO and EU member Bulgaria also stands on the side of freedom.

Russia's positions towards Bulgaria are closely monitored by the Foreign Ministry. "The provocative statements are an attempt at aggressive demonstration and malicious influence and interference in domestic affairs. Any such provocation must be responded to at a level and in proportions that allow Bulgaria to trigger action when necessary. It is important, while taking into account differences, to remain consistent," Gabriel explained.
