When asked "In which historical period would you like to live if you have a choice?", 32.6% of Bulgarians refer to the time of socialism. 28.1% refer to the early democracy after 1989, indicates data of a representative survey by the National Center for Parliamentary Studies.
When asked "What makes you ashamed of being Bulgarian?", 17.1% of the polled refer to politicians. According to the survey, 14% of Bulgarians are not proud of their origin.
