The government fully supports the changes to the Criminal Code, approved by parliament, for confiscation of the vehicles for drivers under the influence of drugs and alcohol, PM Nikolay Denkov said at the beginning of today’s Council of Ministers sitting.

To make sure there will be no false positive drug tests, everything needed will be done so more blood testing laboratories may start work as soon as possible. Tenders for the purchase of new testing equipment will be organized. “The aim is to have the test results ready within a week, as is the good practice,” Nikolay Denkov said, and added that the expression “war on the roads” has been widely used in recent years. Unfortunately, Bulgaria tops the list of countries in the number of people killed and injured on the roads, and measures need to be taken to change that, the prime minister stated further.
