Four people have been detained by police following an attack on the tent camp set up in front of the Monument to the Soviet Army in Sofia. 30-40 masked persons threw smoke bombs and destroyed letters on the monument. A banner reading "Dismantle" was briefly unfurled. The attackers used a black spray to write "We want a Bulgarian monument" on the monument’s pedestal.

The leaders of the "Left" coalition, who oppose the removal of the Monument to the Soviet Army arrived at the empty and illegal tent camp erected in front of the memorial.

The Regional Governor of Sofia announced that the plan for making the monument safe has been prepared and submitted to the Municipality of Sofia for approval.

The decision of Sofia Municipality is clear for the relocation of the Monument to the Soviet Army, which is state property.

"I sent this decision to the regional governor, and now there are already actions to implement this decision", said the mayor of Sofia, Yordanka Fandakova. "Some politicians are using the relocation of the Monument for PR effect ahead of the local elections. I call on the leaders of the political formations protesting in front of the monument to comply with the requirements of the Law on Public Assemblies and Rallies", Fandakova added.
