During the past two months contracts have been concluded for several projects involving the overhaul of roads, said engineer Yassen Yordanov, chair of the board of the Road Infrastructure Agency (RIA) for public service TV BNT.

Yassen Yordanov said further that RIA is making an evaluation of road safety and risks. A detailed programme is being developed which will be presented to the public so they will know where the problem sections and roads are. Current maintenance of the road network is being carried out in all 27 regions of the country, and of all motorways, and this does not include overhauls, engineer Yordanov said, and added his ambitions as chairman of the board of the Road Infrastructure Agency were connected with improving work at the RIA and raising the requirements to project contractors. Yassen Yordanov urged companies bidding for public contracts to be very careful what prices they are offering, and added that when they make their offer they ought to know RIA will demand high quality.
