Bulgaria’s President Rumen Radev refused to issue a decree dismissing the Secretary General of the Ministry of Interior Petar Todorov. This becomes clear from a position of the press service of the Presidency. Earlier, the government demanded the replacement of the Secretary General of the Ministry of Interior. According to the President, the motives for the proposal to dismiss Petar Todorov from the post of Secretary General of the Ministry of Interior are entirely political and are a continuation of the full-scale purge in this institution.
"However, the request for the dismissal of the Secretary General of the Ministry of Interior completely overlaps with the record of the party meeting of "We Continue the Change" in May this year, where the dismissals in the security system were motivated by the goal, which states that "the local elections will be with our Ministry of Interior", Bulgaria’s Head of State added. According to President Radev, "the dismissal of the Secretary General of the Ministry of Interior at this time will only serve interests other than those of the public".
