Hundreds of people employed at the Bobov Dol Thermal Power Plant protested during their lunch break against the "unfair and untenable Just Transition", which provides for the closure of the power plant by 2026. The protest was organized by the trade unions and the management of Bobov Dol TPP. The Territorial Just Transition Plan for Kyustendil region does not provide for sustainable alternative employment, the energy workers are offered jobs in fruit growing, tailoring, spa and tourism, which, in their opinion, is frivolous. The closure of the power plant will make 2,000-3,000 workers and professionals jobless. The protesters insist that Bobov Dol TPP continues orerating at least until 2038, the BNR’s correspondent in Kyustendil Kiril Falin reported.

A protest was also held today in the Maritsa East Mines complex. The rally was organized by the trade unions. Protesters demanded that the energy complex be preserved. They welcomed the participants in a discussion on the "Future for the Maritsa-East Energy Complex - Prospects and Challenges", which was attended by Bulgaria’s Deputy Minister of Energy Krasimir Nenov.
