More than 80 people are fighting a fire near the village of Dobrostan

More than 80 firefighters, military personnel and forestry workers are fighting a forest fire near the village of Dobrostan (Asenovgrad Municipality) in the Rhodope Mountains, the Regional Directorate of Fire Safety and Civil Protection- Plovdiv announced. 

According to the Regional Directorate of Fire Safety and Civil Protection- Plovdiv, the fire was caused by a lightning strike. The fire spread fast because of the wind gusts. It engulfed nearly 50 hectares of land. The terrain is difficult to access and is covered with deciduous and coniferous vegetation. A helicopter of the Bulgarian Air Force joined the firefighting efforts.
