Croatian short film grabs grand prize at the World Animated Film Festival in Varna

The short film Family Portrait by Lea Vidaković from Croatia won the grand prize at the 19th World Festival for Animated Film in Bulgaria's Varna. The awards were announced at a press conference by the jury, which consists of five people - Prof. Lyudmil Hristov, Alice Saey, Raimund Krumme, Noel Palazzo and Robert Sowa, BTA reported. 

Due to the strong participation of the short titles, the jury also awarded a special diploma to Beautiful Figures by Soetkin Verstegen from Belgium. 

My Grandfather's Demons (Os Demonios Do Meu Avo) by Portugal's Nuno Beato was named Best Feature Film. In this category there is a special diploma for A Giant Adventure by Eduard Schuldt from Peru.

Among the children's animated films, Not a fairy tale by Malgorzata Rybak from Poland was rated the highest. Wild Tale by  Aline Quertain from Belgium was awarded with a diploma. 

The best Bulgarian film at the 19th WFAF in Varna was Depersonalization by Spartak Yordanov. The film also received an award for debut and the award of the Union of Bulgarian Filmmakers. 

In the young artist category, Tom Koryto Blumen was awarded for his film Friendly Fire.
