The autumn cultural season at the Bulgarian Consulate General in New York opens tonight, 13 September, with a concert by the children’s vocal and drama formation Talasumche.

The visit by the children’s formation from Bulgaria to the US was organized by the Bulgarian school Gergana in New York. At 6.45 tonight, Talasumche will present their show The three fairies and sleeping beauty – a stage adaptation of the fairy tale by Charles Perrault. The modern rendition of the text is by Teodora Popova, the music is by conductor, vocal pedagogue and composer Dimitar Kostantzaliev, who founded Talasumche in 1992. Since then, more than 300 children aged 4 to 18 have had the privilege of being part of the formation. Besides the newest children’s songs by Bulgarian composers and modern pop music, the group’s repertoire also features church Slavonic chants, classical and folk music.
