2,349 Bulgarian schools will open on 15 September, the first day of the autumn term. A total of 702,000 pupils from first to twelfth grade will attend school, with more than 57,000 first-graders.

This was announced by Prime Minister Nikolai Denkov at a briefing at the Council of Ministers. With the adoption of the budget for 2023, teachers' salaries were increased by 15%, which ensures that their level will remain at 125% of the average salary for the country, the Prime Minister recalled. Work on the digitisation of the education process continues. By the first day of school, all textbooks up to the seventh grade will be digitized.

Mr Denkov also pointed out that 30 000 Bulgarian children in 43 countries will study in 398 Sunday schools and two Bulgarian state schools.
