Bulgaria to donate unserviceable S-300 anti-aircraft missiles to Ukraine, Defence Committee proposed

Bulgaria to donate to Ukraine unserviceable anti-aircraft missiles and ammunition for automatic small arms. This was voted by the Defence Committee in a draft decision on providing additional military aid to the invaded country.

The proposal by GERB-SDS, PP-DB and MRF provoked violent reactions from the opposition, but was defended by military minister Todor Tagarev, who suggested the aid should be extended.

Atanas Zafirov of the BSP said that the government intended to give Ukraine the last remaining reliable protection of the skies over Sofia and Bulgaria's nuclear power plant, namely the S-300 anti-aircraft missile complexes.

"The government and the National Assembly should develop the defence capabilities of the Bulgarian army and not use them as a donor to foreign armies," President Rumen Radev said in Karnobat.
