The World Culture Festival is preparing for its fourth edition, which this year will be held from September 29 to October 1 in Washington, USA. The festival is organised by the Art of Living Foundation, set up by spiritual leader Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, known for his work as a humanitarian and peace activist. He said the aim of the World Culture Festival is to convey the message that the whole world is one family and we can live together with our differences.

Some 17,000 performers are expected to join in and put on a show for the audience, with over 450,000 seats already booked.

Bulgaria will be presented by a 7-minute beautiful folklore performance in the park in front of the White House on 30 September at 7 p.m. local time, featuring 250 Bulgarian dancers from all over the United States, as well as traditional folklore dancers, Kukeri masked dancers, and Rhodope bagpipers from Bulgaria. The groups that will participate are: "Khoro" from Chicago with choreographer Irina Gocheva, "Ludo Mlado" from Boston with choreographers Pepi Petrov and Marieta Mircheva, "Zharava" from Washington with leader Desi Jordanoff, as well as groups from many other parts of the USA.

The music for the performance is by famous composer Georgi Andreev. Of course, there will be a choir on stage, which will be accompanied by singer Desi Dobreva.

On October 1, Desi Dobreva will perform a concert for the Bulgarians in Maryland, Baltimore and Washington.

Before she left for the USA, Desi Dobreva wrote to us about her participation in the World Culture Festival: "This is probably the biggest and most exciting event this year - for me, for all the participants, and I guess for the spectators. Nearly half a million people will watch live, and millions more will tune in online. The festival is one of the most anticipated events, and it's a very responsible task for all of us involved in one way or another. I am extremely grateful to the organisers for the honour and trust they have given me, for selecting the team and for their overall support. We leave for the USA with great excitement and undisguised pride that Bulgaria will be part of the World Culture Festival in front of the White House in Washington, USA!"
