Opposition takes a stand against agreement with energy workers

The coalition BSP for Bulgaria objected to the agreement between Prime Minister Nikolai Denkov, the Council of Ministers, MPs from the parties supporting the government and the representatives of the trade unions in the energy sector, which was concluded on 3 October 2023.

The left claims that the agreement is the "death sentence of the Bulgarian energy sector". According to Vazrazhdane partr the most essential part of the protesters' demands was lost in the text proposed after the negotiations. For example, the demand to postpone the liberalisation of the energy market for households was dropped.
Earlier today, the Energy Committee in parliament approved the agreement with the protesting miners and energy workers. It is to be voted on in plenary.
