Twenty-two scientists from St. Kliment Ohridski University, the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and other Bulgarian higher education institues are among the top 2% scientists in the world for 2023, indicates an annual updated science-wide author databases of standardized citation indicators in 22 scientific fields and 174 sub-fields.  

The database of top-cited scientists provides standardized information on citations, h-index, co-authorship adjusted hm-index, citations to papers in different authorship positions and a composite indicator (c-score). The database includes millions of researchers from all over the world. 

From St. Kliment Ohridski University Prof. Nikolay V. Vitanov (general physics) is in 193^rd position, Prof. Ivan Hristov (optoelectronics) is in 317^th, Assoc. Prof. Micha Karavasteva (mining and metallurgy) is 405th, and the prime minister of Bulgaria Academician Nikolay Denkov (chemical physics) is 678^th.
