“There is no immediate threat to Bulgaria, but the government has taken preventive measures, including by bolstering security at the Israeli embassy and the synagogues in this country,” said Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov after the extraordinary meeting of the parliamentary Presidents’ Council convened over the war against Israel and the war against Ukraine.

Talking to reporters, GERB leader Boyko Borissov urged President Rumen Radev to convene the Consultative Council on National Security over the war against Israel. “The special services, the Interior Ministry should be extremely vigilant. We have many communities here that hate one another, we have the bomb attack at Sarafovo (which took the lives of Israeli tourists – editorial note). We have to be extra cautious and vigilant. And even more careful of the way we speak, of the way we act, and of course – firmly and categorically against the people who spread terror,” he commented. Boyko Borissov was critical of PM Nikolay Denkov for taking part in yesterday’s consultative meeting, called by President Radev, seeing as no leaders of the political formations represented in parliament were invited. “He went of his own free will, and now here (in parliament) we are doing the exact same thing all over again.”
