Bulgaria strongly condemns the terrorist act of Hamas and stands firmly behind Israel. This is the message sent by President Rumen Radev, Speaker of the Parliament Rosen Zhelyazkov, Deputy Prime Minister Mariya Gabriel and caretaker chief prosecutor Borislav Sarafov, who participated in the prayer for peace organised by the organization of Jews in Bulgaria "Shalom" in the central synagogue in Sofia.
The event is a sign of sympathy for the victims of the terrorist attack carried out by the radical movement Hamas against Israel on October 7 and a call for peace in the region. The prayer was attended by ministers, MPs, ambassadors and representatives of the Jewish community in Bulgaria. They expressed the view that Israel has the right to respond by all means permitted under international law.
It is extremely important that the hostages held by the terrorists be released as quickly as possible, representatives of various institutions in Bulgaria pointed out. Participants expressed hope that the conflict would not escalate throughout the region, reporter Marta Mladenova informed.
