The Russian consulate in Varna has finally closed

Photo: Radio Varna

After in June of last year Bulgaria declared 70 diplomats and employees of the diplomatic missions of Russia as persona non grata in Bulgaria and the consulates in Varna and Ruse were left without staff, the one in Varna finally closed its doors. The information sign that the Russian representation was housed in the building at 53 "Macedonia" street has been missing for several days, according to an inspection by the BNR Varna.

We remind you that the list of Russian diplomats announced for recall in June 2022 included almost all those working at the consulate in Varna, including Consul General Vladimir Klimanov. The building at 53 "Macedonia" St. is privately owned by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the lease agreement concluded between the department and the representative office expires on November 1 of this year.
