Bulgarian citizens should not undertake unnecessary trips to Brussels until the level of terrorist alert changes, and those already in the capital of Belgium should refrain from unnecessary movements within the city and be extremely cautious when in public places. This is advised by the Situation Center of the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The warning comes after a terrorist opened fire on a group of Swedish soccer fans, killing two of them. The Belgian National Security Council lowered the terrorist alert level for the capital Brussels from level 4 to level 3. Level 3 remains for the country. Competent Belgian authorities call for increased vigilance and to avoid unnecessary travel.
The development of the situation and the level of threat, as well as recommendations for the behavior of citizens, can be followed in real time on the website of the Belgian National Crisis Center (in French, Dutch, German and English) at https://centredecrise.be/fr/newsroom/fusillade-bruxelles.
