Russia remains the biggest threat to national security, Bulgaria's Defense Minister Todor Tagarev said before the international conference "Winning The Peace in Ukraine"

At the forum in Sofia, Tagarev noted that Russian aggression began in 2008 in Georgia, continued with the occupation of Crimea in 2014 and continues with the war from 2022.

"With exercises in the Bulgarian economic zone, violation of free traffic in the Black Sea, the situation is already quite complicated. Stable peace can be had when Ukraine manages to restore its borders from 1991", the minister added.

"Bulgaria, Romania and Turkey are working to launch a mine neutralization operation in the Black Sea. It will contribute to grain export security and security in the Bulgarian economic zone. The operation will be open to include Georgia at a later stage For now, Ukraine is not expected to participate," the minister specified.

"Russia's aggression is breaking the foundations of the international security system. We are already considering aid to Ukraine in a long-term perspective so that it becomes a member of NATO and the EU at the earliest opportunity," said Tagarev.
