“Austria is not expected to give an answer regarding Bulgaria’s accession to Schengen today,” said Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov at Sofia Airport before his departure for Vienna where he is to meet with Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer.
“The aim is to explain to Austrian society and to the politicians that it is better for them if Bulgaria and Austria are part of Schengen. To them that means the EU’s external borders will be better protected, it will mean less migration in Europe, cheaper food, lower inflation, more energy security. These are arguments that are concise and clear, and we shall explain them until we are heard,” PM Denkov said. “It is a process that will mean finding solutions at a European level,” the Bulgarian prime minister said.
