A man has been arrested in Sofia calling for “holy war” against the Israelis and the Americans, the prosecutor’s office has announced. The man made a video in which he is wearing specific clothing and calls for jihad and mass attacks against Israeli, American and European sites.

The man was born in Beirut and is thought to be a Palestinian citizen. During his arrest a flag of the so-called Islamic state has been found, as well as cold steel.

The man apprehended has been living in Bulgaria since 1996 with permanent residence status, and has a criminal record but has been rehabilitated for migrant trafficking in 2016. He is known to the special services for his ideas in support of the so-called Islamic state.
