Commission: It's up to Bulgaria how to use revenues from Russian gas transit fees

"The fees charged by Bulgaria for the transit of Russian gas to Serbia, Hungary and North Macedonia are a national measure, and therefore it is up to Bulgaria to decide where to allocate the revenues. This is what European Commission spokesman Tim McPhie said, reports BNR Brussels correspondent Angelina Piskova. 
Last week, during the European Council meeting in Brussels, Prime Minister Nikolai Denkov said that consultations were underway between Bulgaria and the European Commission on Sofia's decision to impose a tax on Russian gas transits. He added that the money could go to the European budget.
