Nikola Rahnev has won the “Awakener of the Decade” award of the Bulgarian National Radio’s listeners and users. He is holder of the Awakener of the Year title for 2019.

At the ceremony, the statuette was awarded to Nikola Rahnev by Minister of Labour and Social Policy Ivanka Shalapatova. Rahnev is 40, with a huge amount of experience in business administration and consulting. With his tree-planting campaign (Gorata.bg) he has helped plant more than 2 million trees.

Rahnev was one of the first volunteers to have helped the flooded villages around Karlovo in 2022, while his house “Hugs from Bulgaria” has given a roof over the heads of dozens of refugees from Ukraine. He also coordinated the fund-raising and the sending of aid to the earthquake-stricken areas in Turkey and Syria. “Doing good is the shortest way to happiness,” Nikola Rahnev said as he received the award.
