Planned nationwide tests of the BG-ALERT emergency warning system will begin with test messages about disasters and emergency situations being sent to the population, the Ministry of the Interior has announced.

The messages will be sent according to a schedule in different parts of the country. Today, the The Chief Directorate Fire Safety and Civil Protection management will present the details of the project, and the national test will start on 7 November. The text of the messages will be in Bulgarian and English. It will be sent to the users' mobile devices only once, and will be accompanied by a specific sound and vibration, even if the silent mode is activated, BG-ALERT said.

A few days ago, subscribers of one of the telecommunications operators in Bulgaria were alarmed by a message sent by mistake about an imminent danger from the not yet operational BG-ALERT system.
