"The elections are not over for us. We are continuing a parallel count, stage by stage, vote by vote," Zhelyo Boychev of the election headquarters of Sofia mayoral candidate Vanya Grigorova told BNR. A difference of several thousand votes could not be accepted without checking every single protocol, Boychev said. He did not rule out challenging the Sofia vote in court, saying there was "enough evidence" to do so.

Based on 100 per cent of the processed protocols, GERB won the local elections in 11 regional towns, and the coalition "We Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria" (PP-DB) - in four. The Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) will have mayors in three regional centres

GERB won the mayoral elections in Bourgas, Veliko Tarnovo, Vratsa, Gabrovo, Pernik, Pleven, Plovdiv, Sliven, Smolyan, Stara Zagora, Haskovo and Montana. PP-DB won the mayoral elections in Blagoevgrad, Varna, Pazardzhik and the capital. The BSP won in Targovishte, Ruse and Shumen. MRF has a mayor in Kardzhali. Candidates from local coalitions and parties won in Vidin, Dobrich, Kyustendil, Lovech, Razgrad and Silistra. Almost all the mayors will govern under extremely diverse municipal councils.
